An early, happy harvest in August 2011 with a rapid ripeness enables a very fresh Chardonnay to be kept. The “Star of Berru – Old Vines” is expressed in its tension and a wonderful minerality that retains a meaty character! A champagne that bears fruit for a long time in the mouth and this beautiful acidity of the best hand-picked Chardonnay grapes expressing more than 45 years old vines.

Tasting note
Freshly opened, we are greeted by animal spices and striking terroir tones. One soon realizes that this is a never-ending search for fruit. This champagne is the interpretation of the vineyard per excellance. Because of the old vineyards, you can taste and smell the terroir, this chalky gravel, the mountain hiking on wet stone and a bit the dusty of a rest area. We walk emotionally through the vineyards very independently and incredibly dry. The very relaxed perlage is not annoying too youthfully, it deliberately holds back extremely and gives priority to the wine.
The Vieille Vigne has become even clearer with air and it now presents its beautiful flavor with freshness. Having become more concentrated, it reveals a lively complex acidity. The champagne tells its story of the old vines in a calmer, clearer and more relaxed manner. Overall, the picture is much more differentiated and leaner, but more target-oriented and focused. What you could have missed at the beginning is now noticeable. It reveals itself with all its facets in a contemplative way. The Vieille Vigne thanks its vines bit by bit with reverence. A bow to nature.
